With both sides missing four or five key players, it was going to be a case of which squad adapted best to the changes. In truth it was very close with a very competitive game only being decided by a late Rob Browne goal. Both sides had great chances with us hitting the bar and Carter for the visitos making the ’save of the season’ to date at Bungay Road, with a flying one handed save as Franky’s Right footed (yes right foot!) shot angling into the top corner.
For us, debutant keeper Matt Ducker had a ’Man of the match’ performance as he made at least four good saves to keep a clean sheet.
From a management point of view, this was probably the most satisfying result of the season ,as with so many missing we decided to change our formation, and every player followed out their instructions to the letter.
This not only ensured a victory but also kept a clean sheet for the first time in two months.
Our reward is a quarter final trip to Holt on December the 15th. Holt are having a successful Division 1 campaign at the moment, so this will be a very tough game, the gap between Premier and Division 1 is not a big as many might think, so we will not be underestimating them.
The rest of the draw sees an all premier clash when North Walsham play Dersingham, Cromer play Wells and Beccles play Watton.
On the transfer front its good to see ’Marney’ Howard return to the club and Andy Aldridge. Both are looking forward to assisting our younger players with their development into Men’s football.
Our thanks go to the Unthank Arms for their very kind sponsorship in providing new Rain & training Tops for the club. Their generosity is much appreciated by all.
