Having just returned from holiday its good to see the well oiled coaching machine at Hempnall has been running with its normal efficiency.
Bob Briggs & his new assistant Owen Southgate have been placing players old and new through a high energy fitness program as the club prepares for its 1st season in premier football for 20 years. It will be interesting to see if the Club can reach the dizzy heights of 'Arthur Chenery's 'cultured' premier side that reached 3rd place but then couldn't maintain its status.
Learning from this experience, the club has been working hard to build a sound base off the pitch with a complete new management layer installed.
Four new Assistant General managers (messrs Arnold, Cracknell, Vincent & Beckett) have been appointed to assist General Manager Nick Page in team co-ordination.
The new A team has been entered into the Business House League with emphasis on Youth. The objectives being to establish a team that our younger players can use as a stepping stone into Men's Football. Any 16 year olds or older interested in having a game please contact Nick Page (01508 499680).
Many new players have joined the club Matt Nixon, Callum Webb, Tom Amis, Jonathan King, Tim Downs, James Spurgeon, Jonathan Phipps, Matt Ducker, Lee Emmett, Matt Wells, Christian Easton, Ben Upton, Richard Bennett, Owen Southgate to date, with others still training with decisions to make.
One of our long term injured players, Rob Connolly, has resumed training after a season lay off . Iain Mills is slowly recovering and it's been good to see him at the odd training session.
Most of last years players have now re-signed, one exception being Ross Potter who has decided try his hand at management in joining Poringland. We wish him well.
Last seasons successful management duo of Franklin & Clarke continues with the 1st team management. James Shipley providing valuable match day assistance and Ben Player continues as club captain.
The 1st fund raising session event of the year is a Horse Race Night at Topcroft on the bank holiday Sunday .All proceeds going to provide match day tops for all teams.
