Hempnall A Team - The Season So Far
With are season now coming down to it's last seven league games, the
team keeps getting stronger with every game.
We are sitting mid table in the league and pushing for a top 5 finsh, which
the mangerment believes is possible, and would be a great start to our
first season in Division 3.
With all the young players we have in the side, everyone has played a
big part in the season being so sucessful.
People like B Ling, M Clarke, B Upton, C Easton and D have all played for
the Reserves, and all deserved their chance.
We have a contender for top goal scorer in the Club in J Paston, who
is only 17, and has found the net 16 times this season - Frankie,
watch out!!
2008 has started up and down, with a League Cup game against Sprowston, who
were top of the league and unbeaten.
With new young signing, Sam Page making a start upfront, we knew we could
beat them for pace, in what was a very close game and was played with 90
minutes of attacking football by both teams. Sam Page somehow put the ball in
the back of the net in the dying mins to give us a 4-3 lead, then its was backs
against the wall, and we kept them at bay to win, and send ourselves two
points clear of the group with one game to go, a point in the next game
would give us top spot and in to the semi finals.
In our next game, we played Costessey Sports, who themselves are
flying.
The game started at a high pace and we on the back foot from the
start. In the end, we lost 4-1, with S Page making it 2 in 2, but we never found
the pace and form from our last game and everyone was gutted.
Last week's game was called off due to the weather, but S Page, J
Paston, O Sayer and Hedgey all got call ups for the Reserves, and played well -
once again S Page found the net.
Well, that's about it so far, as we try and keep learning and improving our
game - hopefully, we can reach our goal and make the league cup
final.
