Norwich Union 2 Hempnall 2
The thirteenth day of the month, writes Ray Youngman, proved to be unlucky for Hempnall as after taking an early lead through some very good early play, they then went on to miss three penalties.
After that early advantage, the game fell well below expectations for Hempnall, and they allowed Union the advantage of a two goal comeback.
An early injury to skipper Ben Player did not help their cause but they did manage to maintain the interval lead from the solitary goal.
The two goals scored by Union did nothing for the Hempnall management team, as they felt that until that stage of the game, they were the better side and to miss three penalties one would have thought nearly impossible.
Admittedly at one stage it appeared Hempnall would hold on to the single goal advantage and they would have gone home quite happy with the score at 1-0.
This was probably on paper not one of Hempnall‘s better games, and the managers were far from happy with the teams performance.
Tim Clarke and Paul Franklin will now be working hard to ensure their team return to their early season form.
Hempnall Reserves 2 South Walsham 2
Hempnall Reserves at home to South Walsham worked hard to earn the single point with goals from Richard Leather and Richard Way.
On a fine afternoon for football, this game was always going to be a difficult game to win as South Walsham always make any team work hard to beat them and on this day it certainly proved to be correct.
Freethorpe Reserves 3 Hempnall 3.
Hempnall A Team played at Freethorpe in the Shoes Trades Cup and the game finished 3 - 3. The game went into extra time and they were unfortunate to lose 3-4 on penalties.
Again this young team worked hard to come back from 1-3 down to force the game into extra time.
The Hempnall goals were scored by Sam Potkins 2 and Stuart Mattos.
