Hempnall Reserves 3 Beccles Reserves 3
The Reserves can only blame themselves for not taking all three points from this game, and simply cannot afford to give away goals in the fashion they did in this game. One of the Beccles goals came out of nothing and their third was a little farcical as their scorer was at least fifteen yards of f-side something which will be discussed for a long time. Overall the Hempnall team played some very good football and two very good goals from Jon King and one from Simon Cracknell should have been enough to have comfortably won the game.
Hempnall A 3 Norwich Union B 2
Again the A Team proved exactly what they can do against their more experienced opposition in playing some very exciting football throughout the ninety minutes. Again the team full of very young players (some of which have already made their way into the Reserves) are more than capable of holding their own against any team they play against. The goals came from Jacob Paston, Ben Upton and an own goal.
The Veterans at Witnesham lost 1-5 with Mick Leeder scoring their goal. With Andy Soanes, their manager, away for the weekend, and the team having to travel a long distance, it was always going to be difficult to raise a team on the day. Perhaps there is some hope that next season the leagues could be zoned to avoid all the travelling in veterans football, which is played more for enjoyment .
