Sheringham 3 Hempnall 2 writes Ray Youngman
Hempnall made the long journey to Sheringham full of confidence after some recent good performances but on this day things did not quite go to plan. The game started with Hempnall looking the stronger side and after just twelve minutes, Tom Halliwell gave them the lead, but Sheringham had other ideas and soon scored an equaliser. The game remained even until just before the interval whem Tom Halliwell scored his second.
The second half saw Hempnall defending the slight slope and a strong wind and it was not not long before Sheringham had scored their equaliser, probably against the run of play, although they did catch the Hempnall defence completely off guard.
By now Sheringham were giving Hempnall a few problems with their wide men making a lot of speedy runs at the defence, and it was from one of these that they scored their third and what turned out to be the match winner.
Perhaps Hempnall were a little below their usual standard and it is difficult to see as to why they did not score more goals from their chances created, and without being to critical of the players, there were stages of the game when they lost some of their concentration. A t this level it is something they cannot afford.
I am sure most of the team felt they deserved more from the game, and I must say Hempnall didnt play badly and no doubt the players left the ground as disappointed as the management team.
Hempnall Reserves 0 Morley Village 3
Hempnall Reserves put out a very strong team for their home game with Morley Village and still managed to lose by three clear goals. For some reason the players did not perform and were made to pay for their mistakes on the day.
Obviously the Manager was less than pleased with the result and will be looking for an improvement from the next game.
