Additional report from Ray Youngman.
The Reserves were without a game, so it was left to the First Team (separate report from Tim Clarke), the young A Team, and at the other end of the spectrum, the Veterans.
Both teams did extremely well to make it a great weekend for the Club results wise.
Hempnall A 4 Mousehold Athletic Reserves 2
The " young guns " of Hempnall A continued in their winning ways with a good win at home to Mousehold Athletic Reserves. This game was their last home game of the season. On a very wet Saxlingham pitch Hempnall worked hard from the start, but as the game went on there were some very tired legs, though the Hempnall boys proved to be the fitter of the two sides despite the difficult conditions.
Seventeen years old Sonny Atherton scored a fabulous hat trick and goal a game sixteen years old Sam Page scored the fourth. The only two experienced players in the team, Andy Soanes and Mark Hedges, again did some valuable work in guiding these young players along, whilst Matthew Oakley was again at his best in defence.
With only two games left the team have done well in achieving a healthy league position especially as they are missing their leading scorer Jacob Paston who is currently out suspended through playing for another club.
Albion Mills 2 Hempnall Veterans 4
Under their new manager, the Hempnall Veterans travelled to Suffolk side Albion Mills, and after there last defeat at Kirkley, came back to form with a much more comfortable win than the scoreline suggests.
With Rory Ringer in commanding form at the heart of the defence and the lively Micky Leeder controlling the midfield, they were always well in control of the game. Manager Tony Ward, Micky Leeder, Adie Lee and Roger Hornsby were the goalscorers.
On Sunday they will play the return game at Hempnall kicking off at 2pm. Please come along and watch many very skilled players in action especially those of you who can remember most of them playing in senior football just a few years ago.
