Whilst my allegiance to Hempnall Football Club is as strong as ever, you must appreciate that at the moment my main concern is for my wife Jill, who is still in hospital receiving treatment and and very slowly responding.

The First team, I must say, felt they would have won at Halvergate, but as Tim said in his notes, at the end of the day, they were lucky to gain a solitary point.

However, two very good results against Sheringham and Dersingham were great acheivments, and credit to Tim and Frankie and the players for their performances over the two games. The First Team after beating Dersingham are now in the Mummery Cup Final on March 24th at Wroxham.

The Reserves have had a difficult time, but are still perfoming well, though not gaining any favourable results apart from a very valuable point at home to Oulton Broad last Saturday.

The A team are also performing well, despite losing several of their players late at the weekend through call ups to the Reserves, something which is not very easy to resolve when players let their managers down late in the week.

Regarding the pitch, you will probably notice that is not up to the standard I expect, but due to my other commitments it is not possible.

As David Pointer will confirm, whilst rolling the training area, we had a visit from a prominent figure in the football world who said and I quote " bloody hell your training area is better than *****'s bloody pitch "

Tony Ward has now taken over as Team Manager of the Veterans team.

The new dug outs and new goalposts plus the laying of the electrical cable for the floodlights will completed during the close season.

On a sad note, Gerald Whiting passed away during last week. Gerald, or Nobby as he was known to us who played with him, was a very footballer with a lot of natural ability, especially during the wet weather when he was one of a few people in those days who could kick the old leather ball. Nobby was always a bit of a character and had the knack of talking anyone out of anything, especially when it came to paying his match fees, as by the time you had asked for it, he had convinced you that you owed it to him. Sincere condolences to his family from all at the club.
