Hempnall First Team v Foulsham

Report By No specific role (No role)

Saturday, 09th November 2013, 2PM, at Foulsham Playing Field #1

Away Match, Anglian Combination Division 1 - 2013 - 2014

Draw, 1 - 1

A really good game with only 11 players available and 2 of them injured; we went to 3rd placed Foulsham but the spirit of the boys was for all to see, 100% commitment and hard work saw us take an early lead with some slick passing, we tore through the Foulsham defence at will, going close on 4 or 5 occasions, one good move on the right by Leeder saw him find Jones in the box and he calmly slotted home 1-0 to Hempnall at the break.

The second half Foulsham came out of the blocks fast and were putting the Hempnall defence under a lot of pressure, but to the credit of our defence the Foulsham attack were snubbed out on every occasion, the equalizer came midway through the half when a miss hit cross caught in the wind and found the top corner - but only just as Halsey headed on the line to clear could only head the ball against the underside of the crossbar and in.

After the equalizer, we were fearing the worst but we totally took control of the game and had the opportunities to score a further 3 goals but narrowly missed on all occasions.

The great news is that after 17 players were unavailable Saturday due to injuries they are all coming back over the next few weeks - that will give us a challenge on picking our strongest 11 for each game.
