Hempnall First Team v Heacham

Jason Trett (Chairman)
Report By Jason Trett (Chairman)

Saturday, 15th September 2018, 2:30PM, at Heacham Sports Field

Away Match, Hadley & Ottaway Anglian Combination Division 3 - 2018 - 2019

Loss, 0 - 5

On Saturday, Hempnall made the long trip to table toppers Heacham, with a few players missing.

Hempnall knew this would be a tough game and so it proved, the back four of Griffiths, Kelly, Miller and Leather dealt well with the lively forwards of Heacham, although Heacham had more possession and looked more dangerous, but had no clear cut chances.

Then unfortunately, Taylor made an error which led to the first goal on 20 minutes.

Five minutes later, Hempnall couldn't clear the ball and a loose ball fell to the forward to make it 2-0.

A few minutes later Collins went through on goal and his effort just went wide, and just before half time Heacham got their third.

The second half produced a very good performance from Hempnall and created more chances than Heacham, wingers Kelly and Etherington were causing Heacham problems throughout and it was Etherington who made the keeper pull off 2 fine saves.

The midfield of Watts, Bennett and Collins more than matched their midfield and battled well for 90 minutes.

Gent up top looked lively and linked well with the midfield, but Heacham scored 2 more goals for a final score 5-0.

Come on lads let's take the second half of last week into this week, allez allez allez!!
