Hempnall First Team v Wroxham Res

Report By No specific role (No specific role)

Tuesday, 23rd October 2012, 7:30PM, at Trafford Park,

Away Match, Anglian Combination Premier Division - 2012 - 2013

Loss, 2 - 3

Our first midweek fixture of the season took us north of the City to face a young lively Wroxham Reserves Side.

With a Wroxham side which included 3 first team players along with ex Norwich City legend, Chris Sutton, we knew it would be a tough game.

The game was evenly matched in the first 15 minutes until Hempnall broke the dead lock with Joel 'Ronaldo' Howard beating his man and crossing the ball for Richard 'Ajax' Leather to tuck the ball away.

1-0 up but under pressure we conceded after some tidy Wroxham football. The Score now 1-1 and both teams battling to get to grips with the game.

The centre of the park was where the majority of battles were being fought with great performances from Chris Mooney, Ben Player and Aaron Haynes.

Out second goal came from a great through ball which Matty 'born again striker' Cobb slotted past the young Wroxham keeper with ease.

Wroxham stared to apply pressure on the Hempnall back four, which led to Aaron 'Pussy Cat Doll' Bunn pulling off a string of quality saves to keep Wroxham at bay.

2 mistakes in the second half led to Wroxham scoring a goal to level the game and then another to take the lead which inevitably won them the game.

In the end it looked like our fitness let us down in the last 20 mins as Wroxham pushed hard late in the game.

BUT...it was a great game to watch and a vastly improved Hempnall performance.

The standout performers on the night were, Ben 'the rock' Ling who man marked the ex Norwich striker out of the game, blocking every effort and getting in some important challenges!

Secondly Joel Howard who had the beating of his full back at every opportunity and threatened Wroxham from start to finish.

Joel is a player with great ability and an array of skills and tricks, which haven't been seen at the club since the young Oli Pointer came through the ranks!!

Final Score Wroxham 3 Hempnall 2

Man of the Match - Joel Howard & Ben Ling
