Hempnall Reserves v Gt. Yarmouth Town Res,

Loss, 0 - 4

The Reserves entertained Gt. Yarmouth Reserves at a very windy Hempnall. The wind was more or less from end to end, and Hempnall played against the wind in the first half.

In fairness, against the team currently fourth in the League, we were expecting a very tough game.

Hempnall were, in the first half, hoping to limit the damage, as we fully expected a bombardment with the strength of the wind against Hempnall and whilst Yarmouth had a number of chances, the excellence of the Hempnall goalkeeper, Alex Harvey, sporting a new hairdo, kept them at bay – until, that is, in added time before half time, when a goal was conceded.

Hempnall had a couple of half chances, and the team tried very hard to keep in the match, expecting a better time of it in the second half.

The defence, well marshalled by Talbot, with the excellent Jordan Batterham probably having his best game for Hempnall, were tackling well and limiting the Yarmouth attack.

Fergus Cook also looked good on the ball, and all were impressed by the effort of the Hempnall lads.

The second half saw a brief improvement in Hempnall's fortunes, though it became obvious that the first half exertions had taken their toll, and with injuries, had only the manager to call on. Relieved of his linesman's duties, Oakley slotted in, but Yarmouth were getting stronger, and managed to score another three to make it 0-4 on the day.

A creditable effort by the team.

Secretary's MOM was goalkeeper Alex Harvey, closely followed by Jordan Batterham.
