After last years success, the club set out at the start of the summer to strengthen the squad for an assault on the Premier and Division 2.

The majority of the players all re-signed but the Reserves plans were dealt a blow when last years 2nd top scorer Jonathan King decided to go travelling, the goalkeeper Gareth Motteram retired and captain Dominic Jones discovered he had been playing without a cruciate ligament so had to have a full knee reconstruction.

These were three large blows to the team of last year when Kingo finished 2nd top scorer, Garthy between the sticks and Dom Jones leading driving the team on and scoring 12 goals from midfield.

Replacing these two players was going to be huge task but if anyone could unearth some gems it would be me and Clarkey.

We set about strengthening both squads together speaking to a number of players leaving no stone unturned.

The end result is in my opinion the best squad in Hempnall's history.

There are going to be battles for virtually every position in both the Reserves and First team which can only be good for the club.

We both have uncertain starts but I am confident that once the holiday season and cricket finishes both teams will start moving up their respective divisions.

UTH!!!
