Anglian Combination D3 » Reserves v North Walsham Town Res » Away Win » 4-1 | League Table
Hempnall travelled to North Walsham looking for a big improvement on the performance against Easton.
Jamie Pretty returned from work commitments and Ben Nicholls returned from injury to replace Kingo and Ian Garrod respectively. Gareth Motteram returned from injury in place of 'the cat' Ross Jones.
Hempnall started very brightly, playing some great high tempo, one touch passing and went close numerous times in the first few minutes but to no avail. This seemed to awaken the home side and the game became very scrappy with Hempnall giving away a lot of needless fouls. Despite this, Hempnall took the lead as Matt Cartledge headed home a Clitheroe cross for his first Hempnall goal.
The game continued to be quite a tight affair with most of the play being battled out in the middle of the park. Minutes befor half time player manager Potter had to leave the field with a thigh injury to be replaced by Lee Emmett.
HT : 1-0
Hempnall began the 2nd half with the bit between their teeth and took control of the game as Clitheroe and Emmett caused havoc down the right flank and Barrett causing the Walsham back four problems.
It was no surprise when Dom Jones forced the ball home to end his goal drought and Lee Barrett added a third soon after with a great side foot finish.
North Walsham were given slight hope when a slip by Ben Nicholls allowed Walsham to reduce Hempnal's lead only for this hope to be extinguished moments later when Barrett through as North Walsham stopped for what they thought was handball. Barrett rounded the keeper and unselfshly cut the ball back for Clitheroe to stroke home number 4.
FT : 4-1
Another good performance on the road for Hempnall who have only lost once away at Loddon Res who visit Bungay Road next week.
