Hempnall Reserves vs Beccles Reserves

Hempnall travelled to Beccles expecting a much tougher challenge to the one provided by Caister and weren't disappointed.

Hempnall kept virtually the same side which had won at Caister. The only changes being in goal where Motteram replaced Ayton and Quinnie stepping up from the bench to replace Wenham who was back with the first team

Pointer and King were included on the bench.

Beccles were a physically strong outfit including players which have previously played in the first team.

The first half was a real battle with both sides contesting every first and second ball. Page and Lee Barrett again looked lively up front.

HT : 0-0

In the second half the game opened up with Hempnall pushing forward and Beccles looking to break at every opportunity.

After King, Jones, Citheroe and Lee Barrett all had shots blocked Hempnall had a scare as a sliced clearance by Motteram fell for a Beccles attacker who struck the post.

As the game entered its final stages both teams sought the goal which would decide the match and much to the enjoyment of Hempnall it fell to them.

With four minutes remaining Clitheroe got away down the right and crossed hard and low for Dom Jones to stroke home for his 2nd goal of the season.

Hempnall defended the last few minutes without many problems to come away with an excellent 1-0 win.

Well done to the lads who took on the defensive work we had done at training resulting in us staying at the top end of the table with two wins from two.
