By now I think most people are aware I have now resigned as Hempnall manager & will be ceasing my involvement with the club after the last 2 games have been played.

I would like to start by thanking all the players who have played this season & in the four seasons prior since my return to management at that time.

Also, a big thanks to all the people within the club who have provided me with mountains of support.

It has been an eventful and enjoyable 5 years with many great times along the way.

Promotion from Division 1, a Mummery cup win & 3 top 6 premier finishes, hopefully a 4th this season but it will be hard.

Many friends have been made both within the club & outside it. It has been an enjoyable challenge to pit my wits against good opposition & managers, & I shall probably miss this aspect of the game.

Many people are asking me what I will do. The truthful answer is ‘I just don’t know’. I just know its time to call it a day as I am finding myself more & more frustrated with events, people & the general way the game is going.

It can’t be all of them, so it has to be me lol!!

Yesterday we entertained a decent Kirkley Res side on a hard difficult pitch & I would like to say that the 0-0 score hid an entertaining game. However, that wouldn’t be true; you couldn’t knock the endeavour & efforts given by both sets of players but it just didn’t hit the high spots of some earlier games.

The game lacked elements of quality & that edge that is there when there is something at stake. However much we talk about it being important & try to get away from it’s an ‘end of season’ game; the reality is that it is.

I think we had the better of what chances were created but couldn’t quite find the finish.

Ben Player just edged the man of the match award with a typical workman like performance, with JP a close 2nd with another dependable display at the back.

Next week we entertain Sheringham 2.30 KO, followed by a trip to their place on the Tuesday 10 , 7.30 KO.
