With 10 days of the season gone it feels like a whirlwind has struck and we are left picking up the pieces. It started with Rays resignation, causing disruption as duties had to be hastily re-arranged, it was then followed by 2 defeats with 7 goals conceded and only an own goal scored, to leave us bottom of the league. Then 2 of our more experienced players decided its time to move on.

Starting with the last bomb shell first, Kwame has decided Hempnall isn’t the club for him and at this point we are unsure of his next destination but we wish him well. Simon Jackson after much deliberation has decided to give it one more go in Ridgeons football and has returned to Diss but leaves his AC registration with ourselves. Again we wish him well and thank him for his services.

With regards to our latest defeat it came at the hands of Watton in a 3-1 reverse.

The game started brightly with us showing a much greater appetite for hard work and competing than the Blofield game. For 20 minutes we looked the better side and created a couple of clear openings. However all this dominance was undone when Kwame Jones tried to clear a ball, it spun of his boot onto his hand and the referee decided this was deliberate handball! The penalty was duly despatched and left us a little flat, Watton had much more involvement in the game but we remained just the one goal down at half time.

A disastrous start to the second half saw us concede a scrappy second goal, then a cross floated all the way into the net on the far post for the third to effectively seal the game for the visitors. However we didn’t give up and continued to work hard, changes were made and numerous chances created but a mixture of good defending and a lack of a clinical finish meant we only pulled one goal back through an own goal, as the pressure mounted.

Carl Harwin had a superb game at the back to secure man of the match.
